The Seasons of Home Staging

home staging seasonsWhile September marked the start of one of the busiest home staging seasons of the year, it’s certainly not the only time home stagers get lots of business.

Many of those homeowners who listed their homes after Labor Day without staging are going to be seeking the services of a home stager within the next couple of weeks. If you’re marketing yourself properly, you’ll get many calls from desperate homeowners who will start to realize if they don’t sell by mid-November, they might not sell at all before spring.

Even though they might have been reluctant to invest in staging when they first listed their home a few weeks ago, these sellers are realizing by the time Halloween decorations go up in the neighborhood, and they can’t pass a store without seeing bags of chocolate bars for sale, that they have no choice. Any week now, they’ll also have their real estate agent after them to reduce their price which makes home staging look very attractive.

Looking ahead over the next two to three months, home stagers who live in a market where not much real estate happens during the holiday season can still find projects by offering decorating services for parties, and by tapping into the rental market.

Then in the new year marketing should be underway for February which marks the start of the biggest season for home staging. While it might look like the dead of winter at the time of year where you live, the spring real estate will have already begun. Home stagers who market themselves aggressively should stay busy from late in January until the end of April.

At that time, home stagers notice a second wave of requests for their services when June comes to an end and desperate sellers realize they need to take action to ensure they sell before their kids start back to school in the fall.

Home staging is a seasonable business and the above is written under the assumption that you live in a large city in North America. If you live in Australia, the seasons will be reversed and if you live in an area where people purchase vacation homes there will be a different pattern for you to coincide with the summer and winter seasons.

The Staging Diva Home Staging Business Training Program teaches you how to market your business so you have a constant stream of business all year long.

Home stagers, would you say the above is true? Do you find spring to be your busiest season, followed by fall? Please comment below and let’s discuss!

Terrific advice as usual, Debra! I’m gearing up for a great season. And I’m also launching my new e-book, “Stage Your Home Yourself; Insider’s Secrets That Will Get It SOLD!” right now in time for this season.

I refuse to participate in the recession! When you’re in business for yourself, you make your own success. Thanks for all your help over the last couple of years!

Debbie
