Back when I first started my business, I had to stage a pre-teen girl’s bedroom. Now to be honest, girls this age don’t even want their own parents in their rooms much less a stranger, so needless to say, this child was not very happy to meet me. Upon entering the bedroom, I noticed that practically everything she owned was out and on display. Every stuffed animal, every string of beads, every music CD imaginable! Of course I had to say that most of her beloved items needed to be packed and stored, but I also explained that this change was only temporary until the house sells. After that, she’ll have a nice new bedroom where she can once again display all of her favorite things just the way she likes. She must have given my words some thought, because she picked up an empty box and asked her Mom to help pack. Once they were done I began to stage the room. I purposely incorporated a few of the girl’s stuffed animals into my staging plan, and when this apprehensive child finally saw her completed room she could barely speak. To my surprise she totally loved the newly staged bedroom I created! And when the family moved to their new house, the girl went ahead and set up her new bedroom the exact same way I had staged her old one! This smart young lady realized that the calm uncluttered way of living, which she experienced through home staging, was the best way to truly enjoy her space.
