Here we are on the last day of 2009 with only hours to go before ushering in a new decade. In only a few hours, people all over the world will be full of “cheer”, doing the infamous countdown to midnight and singing Auld Lang Syne while fireworks fill the sky.

Why does the whole world seem to stop and take the time to usher in the New Year? I believe that most of us see the new year as a chance to start fresh. A new year is like a clean slate. It’s funny to walk into a department store this time of year because you’re sure to see several bewildered-looking men wandering around looking lost and helpless.
