1. Accessories
Decorative items used to increase the appeal of a home. Accessories can include lamps, pillows, throws, vases, floral arrangements, candles, table centerpieces, clocks, books, etc. In home staging, “less is more” when it comes to accessories. A networking website for real estate professionals, including home stagers. Join Active Rain for free and become one of The Staging Diva's associates.
4. Algorithm
A step-by-step problem-solving procedure or mathematical formula. Search engines, like Google, use an algorithm to determine which search results out of the billions of possibilities, to present for a particular word or phrase (like "home staging") that someone might type into a search engine. The goal of SEO is to get your own site to as close to the top of these search results as possible. However, no one knows the exact formula Google and others use for their algorithms.
5. Alliance
An understanding between two companies or individuals that they will work together in support of a common objective and for their mutual benefit. Home stagers often form alliances with various trades people in order to expand their range of services without taking on the role of general contractor. 6. Armoire
A tall piece of furniture often used to store television/stereo equipment, computer equipment or clothing. A home stager might also use an armoire to hide away items that would otherwise clutter a room. Because of its size, an armoire often becomes the focal point in a room. 7. Asking Price
The initial price that a house is listed for when a homeowner puts it up for sale on the real estate market. A buyer then presents an offer, and a final price is reached during negotiations. In a seller’s market, homes are often sold for well over the asking price; in a buyer’s market, homes are often sold for below the asking price.
